School History

St. Jean Marie Vianney Elementary School opened in September 2013, under the leadership of Retired Principal, Tim Waters. Funding for St. Jean Marie Vianney was approved by the Ministry of Education through the 2011 Capital Priorities request. The firm of WalterFedy Architects was retained by DPCDSB to design the school building, a 57,490 square foot facility on a 6 acre site. The school was constructed to accommodate 553 students in full day kindergarten to grade 8. The school is located at 75 Jordensen Drive in the City of Brampton and was the first DPCDSB elementary school to open in the Credit Valley Community. St. Jean-Marie Vianney is within the parish boundaries of St. Jerome Parish.
On September 3rd, 2013, staff and students celebrated their Grand Opening and Ribbon cutting ceremony in the presence of retired Family of Schools Superintendent for Brampton West, Sue Steer, Retired Superintendent of Special Education Clara Pitoscia, Retired Associate Director of Corporate Services and CFO, John Hrajnik, Former Trustee Linda Zanella, Retired Pastor of St. Jerome, Father Jan Kolodynski and Dave Moffat, Retired Manager of Maintenance (?). The Solemn Blessing of St. Jean-Marie Vianney took place on May 8th, 2014 presided by Father Jan Kolodynski and attendees were addressed by Retired Director of the Board, John Kostoff and were presented the Flag of Brampton by Former Mayor, Susan Fennell.
The building is designed with 6 FDK classrooms, and 17 grade 1-8 classrooms, Special Education learning spaces, and a second floor Learning Commons. Staff pride themselves on their collaborative nature and the creation of an atmosphere that is both inviting and infectious. All classrooms have consistent access to technology to supplement the sound pedagogy of its educators in creating an engaging learning environment that allows them "To Dream, Explore and Discover."
